Last year during ESPN's Bracketology 101 breaking down the NCAA Tournament field on Selection Sunday, Dick Vitale seemed to stun his co-worker Bob Knight by saying that Indiana would be crazy not to go after his longtime friend for the Hoosiers coaching agency. Knight laughed it off, but it is still featured on Youtube videos everywhere.
Now Vitale seems to be doing it all again.
After Knight reportedly showed some interest in the coaching vacancy at Georgia, Vitale skyrocked the story all by himself.
"I don't even know if he would take a job but I know Georgia has a lot of positives going for it in the scenario there and I think he'd be interested, I really do, but I can't speak for Bob Knight," said Vitale. Bob Knight is 68 years old and with 902 wins he has the most wins of all-time in men's basketball. Vitale did't come out and say that Knight would take the job but he did say the job offer would "excite" him.
Would Bob Knight be a good coach for the Bulldogs? He wins, but he also causes controversy. In my opinion Georgia knows that its basketball program is always going to be overshadowed by its football program. Knight would bring in publicity, fans, and excitement for a team that is usually among the worst in the SEC.
And if he happens to win, it's just an added bonus.
I think it's a win, win situation.
