Providence Survives, Stays Alive for At Large Bid

It was looking like DePaul was going to pull off another upset before Providence went on a 15-1 run late to pull away from the Blue Demons. Now the Friars get Louisville, a game that will likely either end Providence's NCAA Tournament hopes or Louisville's hopes for a #1 seed.

In other early games Baylor is destroying Nebraska. A couple of days ago I mentioned the Bears as one of the teams that could make a Cinderella type run in its conference tournament.

Stay tuned because St. John's-Marquette is about to get underway.

Providence on the ropes, bubble teams watching

It's very early in the Big East Tournament, but we already may have the story of the entire tournament. DePaul, who went 0-18 in conference play this season knocked off Cincinnati yesterday. That ended the Bearcats NCAA Tournament hopes, a team many thought could make a serious run in this tournament.

Now they lead Providence, a team that went 10-8 in conference play and recently defeated #1 Pittsburgh. DePaul is up 25-16 with a little over seven minutes to play in the first half.

A loss would eliminate the Friars from at large contention completely, leaving other bubble teams pretty happy.
